New BIOS-based OS from Phoenix

Phoenix Technologies is going to release a Linux-based, with virtualization-enabled, BIOS-based OS for computers. They implemented a full Linux distro right on the BIOS chips, and by using integrated virtualization technology, it ‘allows PCs and laptops to hot-switch between the main operating system, such as Windows, and the HyperSpace environment.’ So, essentially, they are ‘trying to create a new market using the ideas of a fast-booting, safe platform that people can work in, but remain outside of Windows.

Hyperspace lets you access the Web without having to wait for Windows to boot up. Power your computer and instantly surf the Internet, check e-mail or watch the YouTube video of the day. And when you want to switch off, just close the lid and off you go.  Phoenix claims that with Hyperspace you can work 30% longer on your notebook, cause or preserve batterylife. So it seems to have many advantages, you can try Hyperspace for free for 21 days, if you have interest in it click here.
